Lilly is half-asleep in frog pyjamas sound asleep in shorts and a tank top and she manages to turn off her alarm without that changing a bit. Part of her knows she's supposed to get up and get ready to go running, but the other, louder part knows that Pete'll come wake her up anyway so just ten more minutes...

And indeed, about ten minutes later there's a knock on her door.

"Lilly? Time to get up," Peter calls.

Lilly hears Peter's voice and blinks sleepily before closing her eyes again.

She mumbles something that might have been "Okay, I'm up," in her head but gets translated through her pillow as "Mrmph."

The door opens a crack.

"Lilly? Am I going to have to come in there?"

Usually he probably wouldn't. But Lilly was up late last night and so her "mmph" is probably not as effective a "no" as she might have hoped.

"I'll count to five," he says, suppressing a fond smile.

"One... two... three..."

Lilly figures that if he's going to have to come in anyway, five seconds of extra sleep is better than no seconds of extra sleep, and so she just keeps her eyes closed and doesn't bother responding.

"Four... five. Alright, fine."

He comes in, shutting the door softly behind him, and walks over to the bed, sitting down on the edge and shaking her shoulder gently.

"Wake up, Lilly."

Lilly rolls over and blinks at him through the strands of hair that have fallen across her face.

"I'm up," she says, yawning. "See? Wide awake and ready to go."

"Uh-huh," Peter says, one eyebrow raised skeptically. "Well, let's go then. Come on, up you get."

Lilly sighs, and kicks the covers off. Grabbing her workout clothes, she pads off to the bathroom. There's a few moments of splashing water and general getting-ready noises before she emerges dressed for a run and looking considerably more awake. She sits down next to Pete to put on her sneakers.

"Morning, sai."

"Morning. Sleep well?" He stretches, his back popping.

"Eventually," Lilly replies, and stands up, heading for the door. It's all she says until they get out to the lake, stretch, and start running. Lilly's never that talkative in the mornings, but this is still unusual.

"So. Mind telling me what the hell was going on with you and Logan last night?"

Peter's staring straight ahead, focused on... the trail, or the trees, or pretty much anything but her.

"Why don't you ask him?"

"I plan to," Lilly replies coolly. "But I'm seeing you first, so you get asked first. Seriously, what was that? Hate at first sight or something?"

Peter does glance at her now, for a moment, then back to the trail. His voice is carefully neutral.

"If you like."

Lilly's quiet for a moment, just running.

"Look, I know Logan can be obnoxious but seriously, he's not that much worse than me. Do you really hate him? I mean, clearly you guys aren't going to be BFF, but it'd be nice if you could sorta get along. You're my best friend here, and he's my..." she pauses for a second. "Well, he's Logan."

Peter sighs. "Look, I'll try, alright? But I don't think he's going to make it very easy for me."

"Probably not right away," Lilly agrees. "But I think he'll get better. Remember, up until three days ago he thought I was dead and gone. This hasn't been easy for him."

"Just don't expect us to become friends, alright?"

It would seem that Peter doesn't really want to be talking about this.

Lilly's face falls a bit, and she looks straight ahead.

"Fine," she replies flatly.

"Would you rather we sat down over a beer and played checkers? It's not going to happen."

Lilly stops running, and Peter goes a step or two beyond her before he stops himself and turns to face her.

"Yeah, I got that," she says unhappily. "Is there something going on that you're not telling me about, Pete? You've been all weird with me the past couple days. You won't talk to me, you didn't even try to get along with Logan, and you're moving all of a sudden and yeah. Did I do something? Are you mad at me?"

"Oh, Lilly," Peter says, taking an involuntary step towards her. "No. No, I'm not mad at you. You've done absolutely nothing wrong."

Lilly doesn't look convinced.

"What is it, then? I know there's something going on, you've been all distant and stuff. Is everything okay with your family?"

She doesn't ask if he's finally gotten tired of being embarrassed by the terrifying American girl, but it's what she's thinking.

"Seeing you in Neptune, seeing what you dealt with - well, it was something of a shock."

Well. It's true, and it's part of the reason he's been odd. Just not the main part.
