Oh, Merriman. So okay, Lilly has this thing with people in or with an air of authority. She automatically defies them!
But somehow or another, although she still thoroughly enjoys saying inappropriate things around him, she has actually grown to respect Merriman. Maybe because he has actual authority, and not just an air of it?
So yeah. She is not in way cowed by him, and there's no guarantee she would ever listen to him, but... there is respect. And the possibility of listening to him!
