Lilly pulls Peter into her room, having given an order for cocoa and various snack foods at the bar.

"Okay, Pete. Put your pyjamas on, I'll get the nail polish."

Peter heads into the bathroom, and emerges a few minutes later dressed in pyjamas - blue striped, long sleeves and pants - and carrying a stack of neatly folded clothing.

"Am I allowed to have second thoughts about the nail polish?"

Lilly is still pulling on her tank top, but luckily she is not facing the bathroom. All Peter's delicate British sensibilities have to be offended by is naked back.

"Nope, sorry. I already got it out and everything."

Peter turns bright red anyway, but he manages to maintain his ability to speak.

"I thought as much."

"You okay, Pete?" He's all red, and Lilly's honestly not sure what she's done this time. She shrugs, and sits down on the floor next to a tray with cocoa and a bottle on it, and another one with nail polish, remover, cotton ballss, lotion, nail files, and little pink toe separators.

"Make yourself comfortable."

Peter sits beside her, as far away from the tray of nail painting material as possible. There's more of it than he expected.

He clutches a mug of cocoa.

Lilly smiles sweetly at him.

"Want some peppermint schnapps for your cocoa? Tastes great, makes having your toenails painted less scary."

She sets the bottle in front of him and eyes his feet.

Peter sloshes some schnapps into his cocoa and takes a large gulp.

"Did you decide on a colour, then?"

Lilly's still eyeing his feet.

"You know, Pete, I could let you off easy and just do a pedicure with clear nail polish. Ease you into this a little."

Peter wiggles his toes at her.

"I leave it to your discretion, lady."

Lilly smiles.

"Well, we have to start with other stuff anyway."

She picks up a box and a bottle of lotion.

"Give me a foot."

Peter cautiously holds a foot out.

"What's all the other stuff for?"

Lilly scoots around so she's sitting crosslegged facing him, takes his foot and props it on her knee.

"Pedicures aren't just paint your toes and go, Pete. You start with a foot rub and I have energizing peppermint lotion for that, and there's other cuticle stuff later."

As she talks, she squeezes some of the lotion into her hands and starts rubbing it into his foot.

"I warn you, I shan't be any good at this when it's your turn. I'll no doubt get paint all over your feet."

Lilly laughs, grabs his other foot to rub lotion into, and then sets both freshly moisturised feet down.

"I've got nail polish remover, you know. It'll be fine."

She sprawls out of the floor in front of him and grabs a bottle of clear nail polish.

"This is usually the point where we talk about boys, but I can include girls if you'd like."

Peter thinks about this.

"Susan Delgado is very pretty," he offers.

Lilly looks up at him, smiling widely.

"Pete! You surprise me. I mean, not with Susan because she's beautiful, but... you're talking about girls? Wow."

Peter blushes furiously.

"I'm not saying I'm in love with her or anything. Just that I think she's lovely."

"Oh, she is, Pete. She is."

Lilly is still grinning.

"So, my turn! Okay. There's Lucas, who is adorable but doesn't really like sentences. Nathan is totally fun, hot, and great in bed but that's kinda it. Indy's a sweetheart but we're just occasionally naked friends. Captain mu ji is a great drinking buddy but that's all. Puck is... well, he's trouble but he's sexy trouble. Mordred's really pretty, probably too pretty but he also has a really pretty boyfriend so there you go. Ophelia's a gorgeous girl, maybe a little teeny bit crazy with the flowers but also fabulous in bed."

She pauses to blow on the polish.

"What do you think?"

Peter stares at her.

"That's... a lot of people, Lilly. And I've no idea who most of them are. And did you say girl?"

Lilly nods, still intent on the polish.

"I haven't slept with most of them, you know. Just Nathan and Ophelia, who is a girl, yes."

"...oh."

That's really the height of diplomacy from Peter, considering the topic of conversation.

Lilly looks up at him.

"This is one of those things where you disapprove but don't want to say so, isn't it?"

"Of course not," Peter says automatically, then sighs. "Well, yes. But at least I'm trying."

"Which I appreciate," Lilly replies, and proves it by not picking a fight with him.

"Okay, you're done. What do you think?"

Peter looks down at them, then wiggles his toes cautiously.

"They're awfully... shiny."
