It's been a long time since Lilly got to throw a birthday party for her best friend. Her best friend, who is going off to college soon. Maybe that's why she decided on a toga party.

Or maybe she just liked the idea of making Indy carry Roman columns all the way up to the suite, complaining that they were Ionic and she'd wanted Corinthian and ducking when he threw pillows at her.

In any case, the place is set up in Lilly's version of Roman decor, which mostly consists of lots of the aforementioned columns in various heights, silk cushions, small faux-marble statues of naked people, and bowls of grapes. The kitchen has once more been transformed into a self-service bar and snacks of all kinds are scattered throughout the suite.

Lilly herself is wearing a one-shouldered toga accented with a gold and emerald clasp and gold embroidery on the hems. It is, shockingly enough, rather short.

Veronica, shockingly enough, is already here. Throwing a surprise party for a Girl Detective that actually stays a surprise is hard work, so most of her friends know better.

Her toga's light blue, held with a silver brooch (and possibly a couple safety pins, if you know where to look). It looks just classy enough that it's not necessarily made from a bedsheet. Oh well. This is all a warm-up for college, anyway.

She's drinking champagne, and beaming.

Lilly gestures at the room and somehow winds up pointing to herself. Shocker.

"As ever," Veronica agrees. "Glad t'see the afterlife hasn't affected your ability to throw a party."

Indy thinks the columns were overkill. This is possibly because he'd had to slog upstairs with each and every one of them, much like the palm trees at Alanna and Thom's party. He really can't figure out what Lilly gets out of seeing him labor.

Then again, it could be because he hadn't placed quite so much emphasis on the decor when he threw the Tim's Not Dead toga party last year. He'd brought that up during the planning of this party, but was always fighting a losing battle. A crapload of ivy strewn around was never gonna cut it for Lilly, especially when the party was to be in honor of her BFF. So, no expense or effort was spared.

Now that the work is done and the party is actually underway, he looks much happier. He's mooching around the bar area in a plain white toga and an ivy wreath, drinking and basically getting into the spirit of things. He even remembered how to wrap the sheets in proper classical Greek style, just as Tere showed him at the last party. So there should be no unintentional disrobing moments during this one.

The last part's a pity, really, as Veronica would tell you if you asked her.

"Happy birthday!" she says cheerfully, practically skipping up to Indy. "No wait, that's your line."

"Heh. No. " Indy replies, toasting her with his plastic cup. "My line's an old age joke. Then the Happy Birthday."

"I'm stalling 'cause I'm torn. I don't wanna be hypocritical, but there's a very real need for revenge."

"Oh yeah. I'm creaky. My joints are going. Won't be long before I'm not even a teenager anymore."

She tilts her head. "Revenge for what?"

"All the old man jokes."

He wrinkles his nose.

"Yeah, I know you're not a major culprit. And yeah, turning the jokes back on ya would be pretty ineffective revenge anyway. Oh well..."

Overly bright smile.

"Happy birthday!"
