OOM: Back in Neptune

awesome_lillyLilly thinks that the blood, the viscous trails of it congealing in her hair and on her skin, might be the worst thing about being back. She’s used to walking around without her own blood dripping down her face in Milliways, but here it never goes away no matter how many times she wipes impatiently at the drops on her cheek.
And then she sees Veronica, asleep on her bed with the tear tracks still shining on her face and the bloody scratch on her forehead like a faint echo of Lilly’s own wound.
At that moment, Lilly wants nothing more than for Veronica to wake up and see her, to open her arms so Lilly can hug her and tell her that everything’s going to be okay, that she’s going to make everything okay.
But that hug’s never going to happen, and Lilly changes her mind about the worst part of being back.
Still, she’s… almost glad that she’s here. Aaron’s not only attacking her brother with his bullshit story. He’s going after Veronica and Keith too, and in this fucked up town that hates the former sheriff and his daughter, he might just get away with it.
Well, he might have gotten away with it if Celeste hadn’t come through the door. As it is Lilly is determined that no matter what the cost, Aaron’s not going to hurt anyone she loves any more than he already has.
Lilly lets her fingers brush the air just above Veronica’s hair, and sighs. She watches her best friend sleep for a moment longer, then takes a deep breath and turns away.
It’s time to go make everything okay. Or at least, as okay as things get here in Neptune.
