Lilly dropped into bar somewhat unexpectedly a few months ago, and then just as unexpectedly dropped out again. (There was a minor, eminently solvable issue with the twins' schooling. The thing with Raspberry took longer.)
She's back now, skipping main bar for some quality time in the Caribbean inlet. Quality time equals beach towel, cooler full of margarita... pitchers, and trashy novels from the next universe over. (Twilight in the Attic. Reading it aloud has been banned as torture under the Genua Convention. Lilly loves it.)
It's a good day.

Thor is, and will always be, very much a people person. But sometimes, when you're brooding over the probable death of your beloved but somewhat traitorous brother, you don't always want to be cheerful and hearty at all your friends (and frenemies and relatives and so on). Even the ones who are grieving too.
So: here comes a blond mountain of a man, clad in shiny armor and a swooping red cape that billows gently behind him.
He's not heading directly for Lilly, but he's not averse to company (and distraction). Mostly, he's just looking at the shoreline.
It's pretty. And different than Asgard, which always makes scenery interesting.

Date: 2012-06-20 05:55 am (UTC)Lilly reluctantly puts down Twilight in the Attic just when horrific sparkling DNA revelations are imminent.
"Hey, you might not want to get all that wet, this is actually salt water. You'll rust. And maybe fade, which is a shame because that is a fabulous red on you."
no subject
Date: 2012-06-20 06:06 am (UTC)"My armor does not rust," he assures her.
"But I thank you for your concern."
no subject
Date: 2012-06-20 06:13 am (UTC)"No problem. That's a hell of an ensemble, I'd hate to see it get messed up. Are you in a musical or something?"
She eyes his cape.
"I bet that thing has some serious swirl in the dance numbers, huh?"
no subject
Date: 2012-06-20 06:18 am (UTC)"No?" he hazards.
"I am a warrior of Asgard."
Mostly the dramatic cape-swirling happens when people are stalking down glittering corridors and riding horses along magical rainbow bridges and stuff. Although Thor does an excellent line in atmospheric wind tunnel effects.

Date: 2012-06-20 06:24 am (UTC)"Ohhhh, the cape is functional. Cool."
Lilly sits up on her towel and tucks a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Nice to meet you, Warrior of Asgard. I'm Lilly, previously of Earth but post-death I'm really more cosmos-politan."

Date: 2012-06-20 06:29 am (UTC)(And if, on some level, he can't help thinking of dead people coming to Milliways --
well. If his brother comes to Milliways, he'll learn of it in short order. Right? And otherwise, there's nothing to be gained by dwelling.)
"I am Thor," he returns gravely.
no subject
Date: 2012-06-20 06:41 am (UTC)Lilly blinks.
"Like, Thor Thor? So you're some kind of god-type guy? Huh."
She tilts her head and surveys him.
"It's been a while since I ran into one of you. Are you into smiting? I like to establish that right up front, because it turns out that a lot of my favorite hobbies are grounds for smiting in a surprising number of religions."
no subject
Date: 2012-06-20 06:56 am (UTC)So: "Humans worshipped my kind as gods," he half-agrees, "what you would call a long time ago. But I would not say we are."
With a small smile, he adds, "In any case, I do not smite maidens for having hobbies. I strike only opponents in true battle."
Presumably with the very large hammer hanging at his belt. Thor is the MOST SUBTLE FIGHTER EVER.
no subject
Date: 2012-07-12 02:12 am (UTC)She's becoming a fan of Thor, though. He called her a maiden. Lilly finds that both charming and probably inaccurate.
"Not a god, cool. They tend to be really uptight. Or evil." She considers it a toss-up on which is worse.
"So you just wander around and hit people with your giant hammer? Like, for great justice or whatever?"
no subject
Date: 2012-07-12 03:39 am (UTC)"If there is cause for hitting," he agrees, a little wryly.
Thor's lessons on thinking before he acts are still pretty fresh.
In a choice between being wry and being broody, though, he'll always opt for the latter around other people. Especially strangers.
no subject
Date: 2012-07-20 06:43 pm (UTC)"We seem to be having a brief crisis-free moment here at Milliways, so probably you don't have to hit anything for a while. Unless the demon bunnies get restless, but that's not likely."
She gestures at the cooler.
"Want a drink?"
no subject
Date: 2012-07-27 06:06 am (UTC)"Very well."
Wait, he learned this part of human manners. "Thank you," he adds, as he settles down onto the sand near her. This does not make him look appreciably smaller, although it's probably easier on Lilly's neck.
Where he's from, you usually reserve thanks for bigger things than this. But Thor is an adaptable diplomat! (Not always a very diplomatic one, but he's good at making friends, at least.)
no subject
Date: 2012-07-29 04:46 am (UTC)"Hey, you like tequila, right?"
She assumes he will say yes, because he doesn't seem like secret evil and only secret evil dislikes tequila. The margarita is topped off with a healthy additional tequila pour and handed over.
"Cheers!"
no subject
Date: 2012-08-02 03:22 am (UTC)He accepts the margarita accordingly. Thor is good with being handed drinks by friendly people!
Come to think of it...
"Lilly," he repeats, thoughtfully. "Would you be called Lilly Kane?"
no subject
Date: 2012-08-06 02:05 am (UTC)Lilly is entirely unsurprised that her reputation precedes her. She's just mildly curious as to which reputation got out in front this time.
"How'd you know?"
She's putting cautious money on "ran into a current or former spouse" and a heavier bet on "free association with tequila."
no subject
Date: 2012-08-06 03:57 am (UTC)"Some little time ago, I received a gift of this tequila from the Lady Bar."
Along with a note saying it was for interesting and/or hot people. Thor, who takes others' attention and his own attractiveness for granted, feels no particular need to mention that.
Instead, he lifts his margarita glass slightly in salute, and has a swallow of it.
...Huh. Pretty good.
no subject
Date: 2012-08-06 04:22 am (UTC)"Oh right!"
Lilly grins at him.
"I decided that since I've been gone for so long, it was time to win friends and influence people again."
She shoots him a sideways glance.
"Is it working?"
no subject
Date: 2012-08-15 03:07 am (UTC)"Generous hosting," he declares, "is a virtue and a sign of honor."
We'll call that a yes!
We'll also call this a sign of someone who has not yet encountered the more... magical consequences of free food at Milliways.
He has another approving slug of margarita.
no subject
Date: 2012-08-15 03:50 am (UTC)"In that case, I am super honorable, and I have a spare pitcher to back me up on that."
Please note that she says nothing about virtuous. Even tequila can't cast a haze thick enough for her to pull that off.
no subject
Date: 2012-08-15 04:01 am (UTC)Although Lilly might not quite align to it anyway.
Thor, missing this particular linguistic subtlety (and also not much caring about it), looks entirely amused.
"I have been told that at Milliways all are guests and hosts both. You seem to have taken that to heart, Lilly Kane."
no subject
Date: 2012-08-15 04:17 am (UTC)"Yeah, I guess you could say that."
Or her legacy of killer parties fighting doom could, if said parties ever grew sentience. (Which is, let's face it, probably the next step for a Lilly party.)
"Is that a thing on- wait, where are you from again?"
Since apparently 'vaguely Nordic heaven' is not entirely correct.
no subject
Date: 2012-08-15 04:44 am (UTC)"I am from Asgard."
That's very explanatory, Thor, thank you.
no subject
Date: 2012-08-15 04:54 am (UTC)"Uh, cool. What's it like there?"
Probably depressingly non-sweaty. Depressing, because Thor would definitely look good sweaty.
no subject
Date: 2012-08-16 05:31 am (UTC)Hmm.
Thor looks thoughtful for a moment. At least he knows she's from Earth. Context!
"Very fair," he says, "and bright. Brighter than your Earth." It comes in part of having a different sun, but there's a certain subtle oversaturated luminousness that clings to Asgardians anyway. "The heart of Asgard is a great city of golden towers."
no subject
Date: 2012-08-29 02:58 am (UTC)Phallic, but pretty.
"What kind of nightlife you have there?"
Towers are all well and good, but once you've checked out the view, a girl needs something else to do.
no subject
Date: 2012-09-08 05:11 am (UTC)Like Thor!
He gives Lilly a bemused look. "Much like the day life," he hazards.
no subject
Date: 2012-09-09 04:30 am (UTC)Lilly wrinkles her nose.
"That sounds... nice."
What is the use of golden towers and all if you don't add some strobes after sundown? It doesn't sound like these Asgardians know what to do with their place.
no subject
Date: 2012-09-09 04:55 am (UTC)But this is an idiom that hasn't quite translated; Thor thinks maybe she's asking about whether there's a different nocturnal species or something.
He laughs, anyway, the short amused breath of someone completely unembarrassed by missing whatever cue he's missed. (Thor is, as a rule, mostly impossible to embarrass.) "Nice enough. But perhaps I have misunderstood -- what is this 'night life'?"
no subject
Date: 2012-09-09 05:16 am (UTC)"Clubs, bars, restaurants, whatever. You know, places for dancing and drinking and generally making bad life decisions?"
If this place doesn't have something like that, she is so never visiting. (Lack of invitation is not something she regards as an obstacle.)
no subject
Date: 2012-09-09 05:38 am (UTC)"You mean feasts!" Thor, it's very clear, is a fan of those. (Thor is also pretty good at compartmentalizing, because he came here in part to escape one for a little while -- but that's because of specific awkward feelings, and has nothing to do with his general fondness for conviviality.) "Yes, of course. We have many gatherings of drinking and conviviality, both day and night."
Also there are restaurants and things, but when you live in a giant glittery palace along with most of your friends, you tend to entertain at home.
